Houses


The School is divided into four houses after the names of the various mountain peaks in valley. Each boy is placed in one of the four houses. Each house is recognized by its totem which is a 'BIRD’ and each house has been assigned a ‘Colour’ which differentiates one from the other.
The House System is devised to promote the qualities of leadership, responsibility, team spirit and positive self esteem in boys.
Healthy inter house Competitions in various activities are held. The House System also provides an excellent way of meeting boys outsides one's class and age group, all of whom have a common goal and purpose.
Each house is headed by a House Master. House Meetings are held at fortnightly intervals to discuss and plan the house related work.

Kolahoi
The Kolahoi House is named after the name of the Kolahoi Peak. Kolahoi Peak is a mountain with a peak elevation of 17,799 ft (5,425 metres), in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir, in the vicinity of Sonamarg. Kolahoi Peak is part of the Himalayan Range, and is located between 15 km south of Sonamarg and 21 km north from Arin Pahalgam.
Red color has been assigned to this house.
The Kolahoi house is recognized by its totem, Hoopoe which is a colourful bird that is found across Afro-Eurasia, notable for its distinctive 'crown' of feathers.


Harmukh
The Harmukh House is named after the name of the Harmukh Mountain. Harmukh is a mountain with a peak elevation of 5,142 metres (15,870 ft), in Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir. Harmukh is part of the Himalayan Range, and is located between Nallah Sindh in the south and Kishanganga Neelum River in the north, rises from Gangabal Lake in the vicinity of Kashmir valley.
Yellow color has been assigned to this house.
The Harmukh house is recognized by its totem, Golden Oriole which is an incredibly yellow coloured bird that flies like a thrush giving its distinctive fluting whistle.


Tattakuti
Tattakuti is a mountain with a peak elevation of 4,741 metres (15555 ft), in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir in the vicinity of Yusmarg. Tattakuti is the highest peak in Pir Panjal Range (Lesser Himalayas). Sange Safed (White Rocks) is the base for Tattakuti Climb.
Blue color has been assigned to this house.
The Tattakuti house is recognized by its totem, Kingfisher which is a sparrow sized bird with a short tail and a long pointed bill, found mostly near water.


Mahadev
Mahadev is a mountain with a peak elevation of 3,966 metres (13013 ft), in Srinagar district of Jammu and Kashmir. Main route to this Mountain peak is from Dachigam - Harwan. Famous Tarsar & Marsar lakes lie on the eastern side of this Mountain. This Mountain peak is visible from almost all parts of Srinagar.
Green color has been assigned to this house.
The Mahadev house is recognized by its totem, Paradise Flycatcher (male), with a long white tail that nests in the Chinar and the walnut trees. It is seen only during the spring in Kashmir.
